User Guide
The Enviro-Septic System was designed to efficiently treat the wastewater from the septic tank of your isolated dwelling. However, some guidelines must be followed to ensure your system maintains its treatment performance and that it can be used for a very long time.
The user guide goes into details about the simple rules that need to be followed to ensure the system functions properly. It also explains the owner’s responsibilities with respect to the applicable rules and regulations in effect.
Residential Systems
Infiltration and distribution systems; the Enviro-Septic pipe is used as a large diameter infiltration chamber to realize a traditional soil absorption field

There are four different ways to design the Enviro-Septic system depending on the constraints of the installation sites to serve. Therefore, there are four different design and installation manuals to choose from, depending on the treatment level of the system to design and the total daily flow of wastewater:
Residential Systems:
(Daily flow of 3240 liters or less)
Distribution and Infiltration Systems (SDI) :
The Enviro-Septic distribution and infiltration system design manual was made to help the designer draw the plans and list the project details. It must respect the Q-2, r.22 regulation. A certain number of typical drawings were prepared in order to help the designer. They are available under « Documentation – Typical drawings »

The MDDEFP’s specific installation standards for the use of the Advanced Enviro-Septic pipe as a distribution and infiltration system, are described in appendix B-5 of the technical guide on the wastewater treatment for isolated dwellings (MDDEFP). This appendix pertains to the optional equipment used in the construction of the devices for treating wastewater for isolated dwellings (total daily flow of 3240 liters or less). Pages 5.2 to 5.4 speak of circular infiltration chambers to which the ministry associates the Advanced Enviro-Septic pipe when it is used as a distribution and infiltration system.
The manual and the regulations may be consulted on the MDDEFP web site:
Secondary treatment level (ST) and Advanced secondary treatment level (AST) Systems Certified by the BNQ:
Advanced Enviro-Septic pipes may also be used for certified treatment systems. It is then possible to minimize the space needed on site and also the thickness of native soil required. Typical drawings were made to help the designer with this type of configuration. They are available under « Documentation – Typical Drawings »

Enviro-Septic System design manual – Designing with TA-7 Technical file (French)![]()
Last update: March 20th, 2006
This designer’s manual must be used along with the TA-7 technical file and the “Convention Domestic Wastewater Treatment Technologies: Study Guide” from the Ministry of Environment. These documents are available on the MDDEFP’s web site using the following links:
- TA-7 Technical file (French)
- Guide pour l’étude des technologies conventionnelles de traitement des eaux usées d’origine domestique du ministère de l’Environnement (French)
The design of an Enviro-Septic treatment system, following the TA-7 technical file, varies from one project to another. It is not practical to prepare the typical drawings as for a residential project. Contact one of our technical service representatives to obtain help in the configuration of your system adapted to the conditions of the site or for help in using Enviro-SepticTM for your project, if you do not find the necessary answers in the designer’s manual.
Evaluation tool for the system sand
The technical service, at DBO Expert, has prepared an Excel document which allows you to rapidly verify if the system sand is acceptable or not. Starting from a seive analysis, it will allow you to determine if the sand is within the necessary range. This document allows you to represent the seive analysis through a diagram.

Other information concerning the Enviro-SepticTM systems
- Authorized Enviro-SepticTM installers:
Each contractor who wants to install the Enviro-Septic System must, beforehand, get appropriate training. A contractor who would like to get the appropriate training, to obtain the status of “Authorized Installer”, may contact DBO Expert or the distributor for his area and register for the training. For more information, go to “Contact us” or to find the distributor for your area, go to “Find a distributor”.
